New Topic suggestions
Admin or shall I call you Wily -
I find Monte Carlo models interesting. I have a few of my own - in math and in financial modeling.
Two other areas worth considering for topics are logic and applied math.

Forum puts the Admin on...I go by Chris
I had heard of Monte Carlo Simulations, but I hadn't had any experience with them before. Just reading about them online, they sound very interested. I would love to see some of what you have done.
I always prefered theoretical mathematics, but in the last few years, I have enjoyed my job a lot more just by involving more applied math in my work. I am very interested in new areas of math I can use in my job.

Thanks very much. I appreciate that. Getting it going is not easy, and this week I have been swamped at work and couldn't post much. But, I hope it will grow in time and be a good place to chat.

Re: New Topic suggestions
Here's a suggestion for a new topic - how about a list of links to math video lectures online? I'm really digging MIT's open courseware and videolectures.net. Perhaps others can also share their favorite links to free pod/webcasts, university offerings, etc.
Re: New Topic suggestions
Here's another topic suggestion - Math Tricks & Shortcuts. I always love learning how to calculate quickly in my head. Basic example - if you know the square of a number, then multiplying the number+1 times the number-1 is always the square-1. Elementary but practical.
By the way, another suggestion - when I post a reply, the subject line is blank, but when I see the message in the lists of posts, then the subject is filled in correctly.
